USTA LEAGUE
MAJOR RULE CHANGES FOR 2018
1.04E Player Eligibility. (Southern)
- Southern will have no residency requirements for local league play. Exception: A state may regulate residency requirements for teams that play a local league at a state championship and/or advance directly to a state championship (if applicable for the Adult 65 & Over league).
2.01C(2) Team Match. (National)
- A majority of matches must actually be played.
- In the case of invalid matches (less than the minimum number of matches played) if scores are entered in TennisLink they will count only for NTRP ratings and advancement.
- Each Sectional Association shall establish procedures in the event of a team default or double default.
2.01C(5) Team Line-Ups. (Southern)
- #E: If a team defaults an entire match (as described in USTA League Regulation 2.03K) in local play, states may decide whether to allow further play by that team and how matches played by that team should be used in determining standings. A state may not authorize a local league to make such determination. If the state does not have a specific rule in place regarding such team defaults, it must follow USTA League Regulation 2.03L.
2.06A Move Up, Split Up. (National)
- All 2.5 and 5.0 National Championship teams are allowed to retain 3 players who qualified or advanced to National Championships.
- National Championship teams are required to Move Up or Split Up only in the age group from which their team advanced the previous year.
- Sections may restrict crossover between Adult and Mixed Divisions, and also between some or all Age Groups.
3.01A Grievance Administration. (Southern)
- A $100 filing fee will be required for all General/Sportsmanship, Championship and/or Administrative Grievance and Grievance Appeals that are heard at the Southern level. The filing fee will only be returned to the grieving party if a penalty is imposed.
1.04C(1) Official League Registration (Tennessee)
- The total fee for a player to play USTA League Tennis in Tennessee is not to exceed $30 per person. Nine ($9) dollars of that fee goes to USTA Tennessee to offset expenses for the state administration of the USTA League Program. There will be no refunds of the state administration fee of nine ($9) dollars.
1.04D(3) Local League Season (Tennessee)
- Adult 55 & Over - 9.0 men, 9.0 women. Local leagues with only one team may, with approval from the State League Coordinator, play a local league with other one team local leagues in order to determine which team will advance to the USTA Tennessee State Championships.
1.04D(4) Team (Tennessee)
- USTA Tennessee does not limit the number of players on a team roster.
1.04E(1) Domicile and Residency Requirements (Tennessee)
- USTA Tennessee will not require any team to have any residency requirements for teams that play a local league at a state championship and/or advance directly to a state championship (if applicable for the Adult 65 & Over league).
2.01C(5) Team Line-Ups (Tennessee)
- #E: If a team forfeits an entire team match and that forfeit affects the outcome of the local league, then all matches played by the forfeiting team will be removed from the standings. If the forfeiting team has no effect on the outcome of the local league, matches played by that team will stand.
3.01 ADMINISTRATION
- USTA Tennessee shall require a $50 filing fee for all General/Sportsmanship, Championship, and/or Administrative Grievance and Grievance Appeals that are heard at the State level. The filing fee will only be returned to the grieving party if a penalty is imposed. USTA Tennessee will donate all filing fees to the Tennessee Tennis Patrons Foundation.
Local leagues shall require a $25 filing fee for all General/Sportsmanship, Championship, and/or Administrative Grievance and Grievance Appeals that are heard at the local level. The filing fee will only be returned to the grieving party if a penalty is imposed. |
