META QUARTERLY BUSINESS MEETING

META got off to a good start this spring with the Adult Spring League...with lots of rain...and Cinco de Mayo Team Up Event. About 40 persons on 5 teams participated in this limited event coordinated by Sarah Moseley. It was so much fun. Sarah coordinated a successful Memorial Day Morning Mixer Event with 20 participants which included Myra O'dell leading a USTA FAST4 shortened way to play that we tried for 30 minutes. Watch for more information about the possibility of a FAST4 Tournament played in 3 hours. Alice is busy coordinating the Mixed Leagues with play underway. Also, there is a 3.5 Women's Flex League that will play for about six weeks. Some USTA teams have advanced from local play and are playing in state championships already. Thank you and appreciation to Alice and Sarah for the incredilble leadershiip and coordination for all of this! Social Tennis started last week in Johnson City on Tuesdays and Bristol on Wednesdays, 6-8:30 PM. David continues to lead our youth and is recruiting a Junior Team Tennis Coordinator. Our USTA Tennessee Executive Director, Michael Chamberlain, visited a few weeks ago.
META enhanced the original logo and have used it for the screen-printing of META shirts that are being given away to players who want them as USTA members and/or registered for a special event through Tennislink. Please try to come to our "Meet and Eat" meeting to talk about the future of META. Light refreshments will be provided. We want to know what you want and how to proceed with leagues, tournaments, and events.
An important piece of META is volunteers. That being said, two of our board members, who have served four years, have announced that they are stepping down from their current offices, effective August 31, end of META fiscal year. Who will step up?! META NEEDS YOUR HELP to keep going and growing tennis! We are always open to changes and welcome new ideas and interaction! The current officers will be available to share their officer job description and will be glad to help with the transition to make the changes. Please give it serious thought and let us know if you might be interested in being nominated for any one of the four offices of our executive board...or do you know someone else who might want to be an officer. Contact any one of our current officers to provide the contact information. The META Annual Meeting will be in early September to include the changes and transition of the officers.
